"Zaitseva Gora" - hunting-fishing base (Kaluga region)
The hunting-fishing base „Zaitseva Gora” traditionally occupies one of the most valuable, from the point of view of availability of animals, grounds in Kaluga region – more than 62 000 hectares, out of which – 42 000 hectares are forests. The base is situated on the territory of Mosalsky and Baryatinsky areas. Historically it was the experimental hunting-fishing base, one of 7 (!) in the whole Soviet Union. High and constant density of all kinds of game is provided with availability of extensive bogs (animals feel themselves safe there) and large forest area.
The central country estate is situated within 265 km. from Moscow. The main hunting objects are: wild boar, elk, roe, hare, fox, raccoon, black grouse, hazel grouse, wood grouse, beaver, woodcock, snipe, great snipe, etc. The base is very famous among the fishermen, first of all, due to Milyatinskoe reservoir (380 hectares), which is rich in fish – pike, tench, bream, crucian, perch, redeye. Another reservoir of the base is the lake Bezdon (36 hectares). The lake is very deep (35 meters). There are such kinds of fish like: carp, grass carp, bream, crucian, burbot, pike, perch, redeye, etc. There is an air-plane of the period of the war on the lake floor; it is of interest for skin-diver. The rivers: Popolta, Mirotcha, Shmeja, Volstvitsa, Pereksha, Vorona, Rezvinky.
The kinds of hunting: hunting for hoofed animals from towers; running hunting for hoofed animals; coursing for foxes and hares; hunting for black grouses; spring hunting for wood grouses and woodcocks; hunting for ducks; hunting for wolves.
The accommodation on the territory of the central country estate near the lake Bezdon is possible. There are: 2 cottages and a hotel for 32 guests, restaurant (24 seats), banquet hall, dance-hall, summer houses, braziers, hire of boats, catamarans and other equipment. The rooms are equipped with all conveniences. There is a tent camping with beds and electric lighting at the coast of Milyatinskoe reservoir.
Accommodation
The hotel complex „Zaitseva Gora” is located at the coast of the unique reservoir – the lake Bezdon. It has: 15 rooms, a small cozy restaurant, bar, childrens room, the licensed arms room with individual safes for storage of hunting weapons.
The cottages are situated at the same distance from water as the hotel.
Also on the territory of the complex there are:
- restaurant;
- bar;
- building for holding of banquets, conferences, symposia and seminars;
- Russian bath-house with an exit to the lake;
- covered summer houses with brazier and firewood;
- secured car park;
- landscape night lighting;
- rental agency;
- equipped places for fishing.
The total area of the reservoir is 380 hectares. The average depth is about 2 meters. The reservoir is far from the main industrial towns of Kaluga region, thats why it is ecologically clean. The water is very pure, but it has darkish tint because there is a lot of peat in the soil.
There are no main buildings around the lake. You can spend the night in tents or at the hotel near the lake Bezdon (10 minutes drive). The territory of Milyatino and a car park are secured.
