The capital of Russia occupies the area of 1035 square kilometers.
Moscow`s local time is Greenwich Mean Time plus 3, the summer time (+1) is active in Moscow from March to October.

Climate: moderate. The average temperature in July and August is (20 – 25) °C; in December and January – (10 – 20)°C. The humidity is moderate and, sometimes, high. The Moscow`s winters are, as a rule, cold and snowy.
Today the capital of Russia is one of the biggest cities of Europe with 850-years history. Look back to the 12th century to find out that during that time Moscow was only a small wooden town, the seat of a local Prince in the northern province of young, but strong and prosperous state called "Kievan Rus".
Now it is a cultural, financial and political centre of the whole country, and the starting point for almost every tour and trip to any corner of its boundless territory.
Throughout the centuries Moscow has been evolving in a classical radial-circular structure of development, meaning that the new parts of the city are built around its historical centre.
As a result, Moscow is essentially the same now, as it always has been, with its extraordinary combination of old and modern, with its undefeated magnificence, beauty and hospitality. Among the capitals of the modern world there are only a few that have managed to preserve their old urban structure. Namely, they are Paris, Moscow and Rome.
Having gone through one of the strongest and dramatic social and economic shock of the 20th century during the past decade, Russia and its capital look ahead. Moscow is open to the world.
